IPC is a limited liability company registered in 2009, owned 75% by Sipchem , 25% by Hanwha Chemical, Korea. The plant is designed to produce 200,000 mtpa of Ethylene Vinyl Acetate and Low-density Polyethylene (LDPE), that is scheduled to start in 2013. The feedstock of Ethylene will be supplied by Sabic while Vinyl Acetate will be supplied internally by International Vinyl Acetate Company (IVC), a Sipchem affiliate. On December 15, 2010, IPC has awarded the Engineering Design, Procurement and Construction (LSTK) contract for the Ethylene Vinyl Acetate Plant to G.S. Engineering & Construction Corporation- Korea.

 

Products

IPC will produce Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) and Low-density Polyethylene (LDPE).

Applications

EVA is used in hot melt adhesives, hot glue sticks, top of the line soccer cleats. EVA is also used in biomedical engineering applications as a drug delivery device. EVA is one of the materials popularly known as expanded rubber or foam rubber used as padding in equipment for various sports It is typically used as a shock absorber in sports shoes. LDPE widely used for manufacturing various containers, dispensing bottles, wash bottles, tubing, plastic bags for computer components, and various molded laboratory equipment. Its most common use is in plastic bags. Other products made from LDPE include trays, food storage and laboratory containers, Juice and milk cartons, parts of computer hardware, such as hard disk drives, screen cards, and optical disc drives.

 

Technology

Technology will be provided by Exxon/Mobil, USA.

Marketing

Sipchem and Hanwha shall jointly market the plant’s products worldwide .
