International Diol Company is a limited liability company established in 2002 in Saudi Arabia. The company is majority owned by Sipchem, in joint venture with the Public Pension Agency, GOSI, Huntsman Corp., Davy Process Technology, Arab Supply & Trading Company (ASTRA) and A.S. Albabtain & Company. International Diol Company had successfully started initial production in October 2005 and is now going on stream with a total capacity of 75,000 mtpa to meet the growing demand for Butanediol (BDO) and derivatives in the world and domestic markets.
International Diol Company gives high priority to the training and development of its employees. A state of the art training technologies are being used, including a dynamic simulator & computer based training programs (CBT) in addition to the on job training, class room training to prepare and develop the company team members .
Currently, The plant is operating safely and reliably producing high quality Butanediol product that is shipped to all IDC customers around the world.

Products

International Diol Company’s product line comprises of specialty chemicals such as Butanediol (BDO), Tetrahydrofuran (THF) and Gamma-butyrolactone (GBL)

 

Applications

BDO

Applications include PBT (Polybutylene Terephthalate), Thermoplastic Copolyester Elastomers, Polyurethane Polyester Plasticizers, Copolyester Hot Melt and Solvent Borne Adhesives.

THF

Applications include PTMEG (Polytetramethylene Ether Glycol), including solvents for magnetic tape, adhesives, vinyl films, cellophane and pharmaceutical solvents.

GBL

Applications include pharmaceuticals, agri-chemicals, dyes, and as a solvent in industrial cleaning products, paint strippers, deinking, adhesive removers, textile finishing, printing, epoxy coatings etc.

Technology

The BDO production technology is provided by Davy Process Technology Limited of the United Kingdom. Upstream technology is provided by Huntsman Corporation and UOP LLC.

Marketing

Vinmar International Limited, USA and Will & Co B.V., of the Netherlands and Sipchem Marketing and Services Company (SMSC)are providing the marketing services. The BDO and THF market have been very receptive of the new product.
